Everyone has a work system. We have a productivity strategy on how we face each task. Some are practical and some time-consuming. No matter what it is, it’s still a system.
For home-based business, especially if its a one-man business, tasks tend to pile up really quick. If we are not careful, we could end up spending the entire day and night on our business without completing any goal. I’ve listed 5 strategies you can use to help ensure productivity.
1. Have planner to keep track of past and future schedules and tasks.
Being able to see what you still need to accomplish can help keep you focused on your goal. This also help you categorize your tasks based on priority so you don’t miss any deadline. You also want to include your past schedules and tasks as being able to see what you’ve accomplished help you to see the steps you’ve taken to get to your goal and help boost your confidence. My current favorite planner is Me & My Big Ideas Happy Planner. They have several designs that could fit different personalities.
2. Listen to your favorite music.
Personally, I listen to classic music. It is said to help spark creativity. This is what I usually do whenever I have a writer’s block when writing blog articles or when I’m not inspired to do anything. Listening to your favorite music sparks inspiration to help you jump start your productive day.
3. Working on one task at a time and giving yourself time limit to finish each task.
Our brain takes time to switch between tasks. Jumping from one task to another and going back and forth can actually drain you before you get to finish one of the tasks. So try to do one task before moving to the other.
4. Removing distraction on your computer.
This is especially important to bloggers and small-business owners who spend most of their time in from of their computer. It’s easy to get engrossed in social media that sometimes we just let time pass by without realizing it. To avoid this, try to close all other browser tabs that are not related to your task until you’re done with it. You can always go back to social media once you’ve cleared your task for the day without feeling guilty of being unproductive.
5. Declutter my workspace to remove environmental distraction.
Another cause of distraction is the clutter around your office/work space. This will take time but you only need to do it once in few months. After removing any distractions and organizing your work place, you’ll have clearer mind and be able to do your tasks without delays.
