Earning money from blogging with just ad placement wouldn’t be enough to get you out of your boring 9-5 job. That’s why most bloggers also join affiliate programs to help increase their online earnings.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate Marketing is a commission based marketing where the retailer pays you for the traffic or sales generated from your referral through your social media or blog. Most bloggers join affiliate programs to help increase their blog income. Affiliate marketing can be through ad placement, sponsored post or paid-per-click (PPC).
Top 5 Affiliate Programs
Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers with billions of people around the world visiting their website for general merchandise shopping. Amazon Associates is also one of the first company to offer commission to website owners and bloggers for every product bought from Amazon using the affiliate link.
Shareasale is another one of the affiliate programs that offer commission through sales from affiliate links posted on website or blogs. They partnered with different retailers. I was more interested in their WordPress related products. This is especially helpful for the blogs hosted on WordPress which can install different plugins and themes.
Magic Links is just like shareasale. They offer commission through sales from the affiliate links of the products. They also have a wide range of products offered. However, I am more interested in their PPC (pay-per-click) program which offers commission every time someone clicks on their affiliate link. Few of their partner websites are Michael’s, Target, Wayfair and Ebay. Magic Links differ from the first two sites as they allow link sharing to social media accounts such as Instagram and Pinterest.
Linkworth differs from the other affiliate programs such that they do not offer physical products. Instead they pay you to post an ad, sponsored post and directory submission service. If you do quite a lot of blog reviews, this one is a good start.
Another way to earn money from your blog is through the affiliate programs of your web hosting company. This is the easiest way to get into affiliate marketing since setting up your blog business requires you to get a hosting.
Applying For Affiliate Programs
You have to keep in mind that most of the affiliate programs, except for web hosting, require you to apply for approval before you can start earning. Each program has specific requirement that you have to meet. However, once you’re accepted and start to create ads and sponsored posts, you can start earning from your blog or social media.
